Hormel Girls is a heartfelt musical comedy inspired by the real-life Hormel Girls Caravan, an all-female performance troupe created by Jay C. Hormel after WWII to provide opportunities for returning servicewomen. From 1947 to 1953, the group toured the U.S., promoting Hormel products and starring in the nationally broadcast radio show Music With the Hormel Girls. Originally formed as a drum and bugle corps, the troupe evolved into glamorous radio stars who traveled the country in a fleet of white Chevrolets, performing and selling in towns big and small. The musical follows six women as they build friendships and discover independence in a man’s world. Two-hour performance with one intermission. Rated G
